Terengganu (smells of poo)

After a quick boat ride back to the mainland we walked out to the main road and caught a local bus to Kuala Terengganu. The bus journey was quite quick. At the station a bus tout pointed us towards the Ping Anchorage backpackers. Described in the Rough Guide as 'spartan but clean'. Spartan was probably an understatement but it did have the advantage of being very cheap so we took the room anyway. Terengganu is supposed to be a centre for handicrafts, but we didn't see any of that. We spent some time in a rip off Internet, traipsed around unsuccesfully trying to find sun cream and insect repellent because Gemma was beginning to obsess about them. All in all a pretty crap day with nothing to recommend it.
